Every year, the Water Equipment Show hosts a selection of breakout sessions to facilitate connection and collaboration between water industry professionals through knowledge sharing opportunities. This year, one such session will focus upon the Pump Centre’s Water Industry Mechanical and Electrical Specifications (WIMES), and the opportunity that AMP8 presents for standardisation throughout the industry.
WIMES Datasheets
WIMES datasheets have long been considered an essential toolkit for the UK’s water industry, defining the requirements for a wide range of its mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure functionality throughout the nation’s water systems. These datasheets are free to access for Pump Centre Level 3 & 4 members, or available for individual purchase via the website.
WIMES & Asset Management Period 8
The scale of AMP8’s ambitions present many challenges for the water industry, which companies across the UK are working hard to resolve. As a result, many are seeking new commercial models to adopt and engage with out-of-sector resources to secure supply chain agreements. This increase in new manufacturers and suppliers has the potential to promote renewed emphasis on the importance of standardisation across the sector. If the water industry can work together to draw upon the common standards present within WIMES with these new partners, it could allow companies to foster further collaboration by easily sharing assets.
WIMES at WES2025
Hosted by Darren Hollins, Peter Morgan-Cox, and Gordon Raffel, the WIMES and WIMES Datasheets breakout session will feature a comprehensive overview of WIMES datasheets to enhance the understanding of these specifications, their practical applications and the advantages of using them in the water industry. The 30 minute presentation will feature insightful case studies, through which attendees will gain a deeper awareness of the key benefits of WIMES datasheets, how they can be effectively utilised to improve project outcomes and efficiency, and how to seize the chance which AMP8 provides to promote standardisation efforts across the sector. It will be followed by a 15 minute Q&A section to facilitate feedback and wider discussion with the audience.
