The Young Engineer Awards, presented by the Pump Centre, offer an incredible opportunity to young engineers and their employers to celebrate the achievements of those in the early stages of their careers.
Every year, the Pump Centre invites nominations to these prestigious awards from young engineers and their mentors, providing our members with a platform to commemorate the abilities of the next generation of water industry professionals.
Celebrate the Careers of Water Industry Young Engineers
The work of young engineers is invaluable to the water industry. Moreover, the feats which they achieve are all the more impressive considering they combine both educational and professional development at the beginning of their careers; the Pump Centre celebrates this hard work and commitment to their craft through the Young Engineer Awards.
A Young Engineer Award represents industry-wide recognition for the skills, achievements and contributions of young engineers in the water industry. These awards further highlight the potential of our future industry leaders and decision makers, and prove that an engineer can have a significant impact upon the sector at any point in their career.
In 2026, Young Engineer Award winners will receive an enhanced prize package tailored to their career development, including a Pump Centre training course of choice, mentoring sessions with a Pump Centre team member or Consultant, and unlimited use of the winner’s title in the winner’s signature footer. Additionally, winners are invited to attend the Water Equipment Show Conference Dinner and Awards Ceremony, itself an invaluable opportunity to network with some of the water industry’s leading professionals to expand their network and further their career prospects.
Recognise Engineering Achievements Within Your Team
The Young Engineer Awards not only benefits the winners, but it also recognises the efforts of the company, mentors and educators responsible for nurturing their team’s bright young talent. Recipients of the awards have often gone on to play a vital role in the engineering-affiliated industries, therefore every awards cycle is an opportunity for Pump Centre member companies to shape the future of the entire sector through the celebration of their rising stars. Nominating employees for an award also shows appreciation for the employees themselves, rewarding their hard work with well-deserved recognition for their dedication and contributions to the company.
The application process includes answers detailing specific projects, innovations or contributions of young engineers to their organisation. This opportunity reveals the groundbreaking work and problem-solving of the workforce to a wider audience both internally and externally. The winner’s colleagues can take pride in the company’s accomplishments and benefit from the support and rewards garnered from this prestigious award. Meanwhile, industry peers can celebrate the innovations and developments brought about by young engineers which move the entire sector forwards and towards our collective goals.
As part of the Pump Centre’s enhanced prize package for Young Engineer Award winners, each member company can also access a range of benefits as part of this year’s enhanced prize package. This includes a £350 reduction in the following year’s membership fees and use of the winner’s award and title in their publicity materials. Furthermore, the training opportunities afforded to the winner will provide the young engineer with key skills and enhanced industry knowledge, which can then all be used for the betterment of the organisation in its entirety.
Begin Your Journey to the Young Engineer Awards
Nominations to the Young Engineer Awards 2026 are now open. The Pump Centre welcomes applications from employees of Pump Centre member companies and of non-member companies who work closely with Pump Centre members. Any young engineer who fits the criteria for a category can apply, including those who have applied in previous years. We encourage those interested to take every opportunity available to them to celebrate their achievements!
Nomination forms consist of three sections: personal details, a section to be completed by the nominee, and one to be completed by the nominator. This form is the only material considered by the judging panel at this stage of the process, and marks are awarded for each completed section. It is therefore essential that all sections be completed to allow for accurate assessment of the application.
This year, nominations have moved to an online form which can save progress, allowing applicants to fit the process into their busy working schedule for their own convenience and increasing the accessibility of the Young Engineer Awards.
