Anglian Water Conference - 7th November 2023

On November 8th, the Pump Centre joined forces with Anglian Water to host a mini-conference at Kingsgate Conference Centre in Peterborough. The central theme of the event was “Delivering a Step Change in Performance in Preparation for AMP8.”

Set by Ofwat, Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) will commence on April 1st 2025, impacting all English and Welsh Water companies. The aim of this AMP period is to increase efficiency and service levels within the sector.

The mini conference was a huge success, with 250 delegates and 42 exhibitors. Cliff Marriner, Head of Maintenance and Engineering Services at Anglian Water, led the way.

Here’s what Cliff shared on the importance of the mini-conferences:

“Conferences like these are absolutely critical to bring together our supply chain professionals, designers, engineers, maintainers, graduates, apprentices and suppliers to help make sure we deliver not only today’s capital programmes, but the step change needed as we enter AMP8.

There’s no single person who could deliver the remainder of AMP7, or the step change we are looking for in AMP8 alone. It’s therefore crucial that we bring together the right people to procure the right assets at the right time, for the right price, to allow the right maintenance to take place. All of these factors go together to ensure we meet the needs of our customers, the requirements of our regulators, and also meet the high standards and targets we set ourselves at Anglian Water.”

John Howarth, Pump Centre Manager, said:

“The Pump Centre mini-conferences are the perfect way for our members to reap the rewards of their membership. It’s a fantastic opportunity to network with fellow industry professionals, share knowledge, and discuss key developments in the water industry at large.”

The Pump Centre hosts several mini-conferences throughout the year. The next one will be in partnership with United Utilities on December 6th, and will focus on the importance of driving best value for customers.
