Sewage Pumping Station Design

This one day live virtual training course will cover the essential requirements for designing Sewage Pumping Stations.

The design of sewage pumping stations provides unique challenges in addition to those normally encountered when designing pumping installations in the water industry. Issues such as the nature and volume of solids content in the flow, sump design and particular operational approaches must be taken into account.

The course will begin by covering general requirements for pumping station design including liquid properties, different types of pumps & their characteristics, system curves, selecting the right pump for the system and cavitation. All topics covered will have an emphasis on sewage pumping station design aspects.

The course will then progress to more detailed coverage of the requirements for sewage pumping stations including sump design, how to mitigate solids deposition, generating system curves at site, design and operation of dry and wet wells and duty/assist/standby pumping. The objective of the course is to provide those required to operate or design sewage pumping stations, approve designs or advise on improvements to existing systems with an overview of factors to be taken into account.
