Conference Agenda

2019 Theme: Pumps and Pumping Systems – A New Horizon?

In the move towards Industry 4.0, pumps, pumping systems, operational and maintenance practices and all associated controls and equipment are entering a new era of digitisation - it's the new industrial revolution!

Many perceive that Industry 4.0 is the dawn of the fourth industrial revolution. It is a move towards automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies, including cyber physical systems, the Internet of Things, cloud computing and cognitive computing. With Industry 4.0, decentralised decisions are made automatically, and via the Internet of Things, cyber physical systems can communicate and co-operate with each other and with humans.

In the water industry, advances in technology have already led to a new breed of pumps with integrated intelligence, and significant advances have also been made in control systems, data acquisition and analysis. These advances have driven demands for improved data-driven decision-making processes and for assets to be suitable for integration within SMART networks.

Yet, the need for improved efficiency and reliability and the need to reduce Whole Life Cost is ever-present. So a new era of development and challenge is on the horizon for everyone associated with the manufacture, operation and maintenance of pumps, systems and all associated equipment.

At this year's conference, we consider what Industry 4.0 means for the whole water industry. Presentation topics include:

  • Examples of new pumps and associated products, systems and processes introduced/being developed for Industry 4.0
  • Developments in Smart Water Solutions, pump technologies and products and integration of assets into SMART networks
  • New approaches to control systems and predictive maintenance requirements using data driven decision-making processes
  • How to bring designers, manufacturers, operators and maintenance service suppliers together to deliver improvements in an Industry 4.0 environment
  • Changes to the procurement process in preparation for the new landscape
  • The role of innovation and its use to deliver targeted solutions
